Thesis and graduation stages of MSc programs

  • Students whose thesis study plan is accepted must submit their thesis information to the institute student affairs by filling in the "thesis data and publishing permission form" online at YÖK National Thesis Center.
  • Students whose thesis study plan is accepted must register for the specialization field course (25 ECTS) and the thesis study (5 ECTS) courses at the thesis stage.
  • The student, whose thesis is decided to be completed by his/her advisor, writes his/her thesis in accordance with the format determined by the institute.
  •  Theses that are approved by the advisor and prepared in accordance with scientific and ethical rules and thesis writing rules, together with the advisor's petition to the department that the thesis is defensible, the positive opinion of the department chair and the proposal of the thesis defense jury, must be sent to the institute electronically (Word) for plagiarism 
  • The upper limit of the similarity rate in plagiarism screening is 25%.
  • The master's thesis defense jury is appointed with the recommendation of the thesis advisor and the related institute department chair and the approval of the institute board of directors. The jury may consist of three or five full and two substitute faculty members. If the jury is to be composed of three faculty members, one of the principal members must be the student's thesis advisor, one must be a faculty member from their own department, and at least one must be from outside their higher education institution. If the jury consists of three people, the second thesis advisor cannot be a jury member.
  • One of the substitute members should be from among the faculty members from their own department, and the second should be from the relevant department other than Trakya University.
  • Following the approval of the thesis defense jury by the Graduate School Administrative Board, the defense exam must be held within 1 month. The thesis must be submitted to the thesis defense jury along with the plagiarism report.
  • Students whose thesis is accepted are considered successful. This decision is notified to the institute by the Presidency of the Institute, within three days following the thesis defense exam, with a report (thesis defense jury report, personal jury reports, questions and answers, the advisor's petition to the department).
  • Students whose thesis defense is found unsuccessful and whose thesis is rejected are dismissed from the graduate program.
  • At the end of the thesis defense exam, the student who is given a correction decision must defend his thesis again in front of the same jury by making the necessary corrections within three months at the latest. A student who is also unsuccessful in this defense is dismissed from the graduate program.
  • If the student whose thesis is rejected makes a request, a non-thesis master's diploma is given to her, provided that she fulfills the course credit load, project writing and similar requirements of the non-thesis master's program.
  • The student whose thesis is approved as successful after the thesis defense exam, must pass the final version of the thesis to the institute's approval in terms of spelling rules and format.
  • Provided that a student is successful in the thesis exam and meet the other conditions required for graduation determined by the senate, at least three bound copies of the master's thesis, 1 CD prepared in pdf format, a petition to the institute, documents requested by the library are submitted within one month from the date of taking the thesis exam. A master's degree with a thesis is given to a master's student who submits the thesis to the institute and whose thesis is found suitable in terms of form. The Institute's board of directors may extend the delivery period for a maximum of one month upon request. Students who do not fulfill these conditions cannot receive their diploma, cannot benefit from student rights, and are dismissed if the maximum period expires.
